About Us

We're built for the chaos of live events

Live events move fast. So do we. atVenu exists because we love live events, we come from live events, and we wake up every morning driven to help make them better. We built the tools we wished we had when we were on tour—tools that actually work when doors open, crowds surge, and nothing goes according to plan. atVenu was born from the experiences of living in a van and trailer, out on the road, where selling merch was required to make it to the next city.

This is our story.

The 2000's
It all started with managing artists, on the road, in a van
Ben, one of atVenu's founders, loved the music industry. He played in bands, managed bands, worked as a tour manager, sold merch, and traveled cross-country repeatedly. He felt the pain firsthand: broken inventory systems, messy settlements, and revenue losses. Nothing available addressed the reality of life on tour. That reality was costing everyone — artists, crews, venues, and fans.

Enter the other founders & the start of atVenu
Enter Derek — a seasoned tech entrepreneur with decades of experience building and scaling software companies. When the two were introduced, it didn’t take long to click: Ben had the solution and know how to solve the pain points he dealt with firsthand and Derek had the start-up, technical experience to execute the vision. Derek introduced Ben to James, our CTO, and the 3 set out to build atVenu’s first product: a solution for artists to manage their merch and settle with venues without excel.
January 2013
The first artist uses atVenu on tour: Ed Sheeran
Kicking off the US leg of his Plus album tour, Ed Sheeran's merchandise team was the first to use atVenu's tour inventory and financial settlement product. Allowing artists to count in, count out, and settle with venues digitally rather than on paper and excel. Saving the artist team and venues hours each stop along the tour.
May 2016
We launched atVenu Register: our integrated point of sale
We listened to customer feedback and developed our live event-focused POS solution, seamlessly integrating sales with inventory and settlements. We launched at BottleRock in 2016, and quickly moved into more festivals, tours, and venues.
March 2017
Continued development of solutions for all areas of live event commerce
Our customers quickly pulled us into sports and food & beverage events. They realized, before we completely did, that our integrated platform of backend event software and front end payments applied to all types of live event commerce, not just music merch. With that pull on the rope, we continued to develop best in class products specific to the needs of those that put on the world's greatest events.
March 2018
RFID payments joined the mix
Live events kept pushing toward cashless, so we pushed with them. Fans didn't want to fumble for cash at a merch table and venues didn't want to count it at the end of the night either. We expanded atVenu Register to support RFID payments, giving operators more flexibility in how fans could pay – no cash required, no lines slowed down.
June 2018
We put ordering in the fans' hands
The point of sale had always meant a line, a register, and someone standing behind a counter waiting to help the next fan. But the point of sale wasn't the only way to sell anymore. With atVenu Mobile Ordering, we extended the purchase experience beyond the register, giving fans another way to buy and operators another way to keep sales moving.
July 2019
Quick Connect made big deployments fast
As customers started rolling out Registers across stadiums, tours, and major events, one device at a time wasn't going to cut it. So we built Quick Connect. Teams could now activate and distribute more than 100 devices in minutes, no individual setup required, freeing them up to focus on the event instead of the equipment.
August 2019
We brought the sale directly to the fan
Not every sale happens at a counter and not every fan wants to leave their seat. Concierge Mode gave teams the ability to bring the point of sale directly to the fan – wherever they were sitting or standing – opening up new ways to serve suites, premium areas, VIP spaces, and other high-touch event experiences.
June 2020
Counts and Settlements got a major upgrade
We went back into the core of what atVenu does best. Counts and Settlements got new tools for Register management, artist control, and international settlements while making event operations faster for artists, venues, and festivals.
May 2021
Artist Manager: rebuilt for life on the road
We hadn't forgotten where atVenu started. A completely rebuilt Artist Manager mobile app was designed around the realities of touring – long drives, spotty service, one city after another – making it easier for artist teams to manage inventory, counts, and settlements wherever the road took them.
July 2022
Artist Manager came to Android
Touring teams don't all carry the same phone, and we didn't want that to be the reason someone got left without the tools they needed. We brought Artist Manager Mobile to Android, putting the same settlement and inventory tools artist teams had come to rely on into more pockets, on more devices, from the first stop of the tour to the last.
September 2022
We brought Live Events Payments offline
Anyone who's worked a show day knows event WiFi can't always be trusted, and a dropped connection shouldn't mean a stalled line at the merch table. So we built for the moments it fails — offline payment capabilities kept lines moving and kept teams selling, even when the signal dropped.
January 2023
Even more ways to sell offline
One device wasn't enough. We kept expanding Offline Mode across our payment hardware, giving operators more ways to keep transactions moving no matter which device was in a team member's hand when the connection dropped.
September 2023
Digital Settlements found their way to Food & Beverage
The same settlement technology that had transformed merchandise operations for artists and venues had an obvious next home. F&B Settlements brought sales, costs, taxes, commissions, payments, and settlement details together into one digital workflow, built for the concession stands and food operations that keep live events running just as much as merch does.
January 2024
Sports pulled us onto the biggest stage yet
Our customers had been pulling us into sports for years, one stadium and one league at a time. In 2024, that pull reached a new level: atVenu powered operations at the largest football event in the world, a milestone that reflected years of quiet growth across professional sports rather than a single leap.
January 2025
Operators got more control over service fees
Every operator structures costs a little differently, and we wanted our platform to bend to that instead of the other way around. So we gave customers room to make service fees their own. Service Fees expanded across all atVenu account types, giving teams more flexibility in how they structure costs and payments across their events, whatever their business model looked like.
March 2026
A new Handheld joined the lineup
Fans buy wherever they happen to be – in the concourse, at their seat, in line for the next act – and our hardware needed to keep up with that reality. We expanded the atVenu lineup with a new Handheld, giving teams even more flexibility to sell wherever the moment called for it.

Our Team

atVenu is powered by a seasoned crew of live event pros and tech experts who actually understand the chaos of show day.

We’ve stood in the dust at festivals, hauled boxes in the rain, dropped power as doors were opening, dealt with WiFi going down, rolled merch bins through stadium tunnels, fixed problems five minutes before doors...and the fire drills that inevitably keep coming. These experiences are baked into everything we build.

We are uncompromising to the services we provide our customers, both in technology and support. We are partners to our customers and ensure their events are a success. We understand that with events, there is 1 shot to get it right. The tour leaves tonight and fans are only here for a matter of hours. We don’t build tools for coffee shops, we build tools for the greatest shows on earth, and we love it.

We hire people who are sharp, curious, and mission-driven. Our team thrives on collaboration, fast thinking, and figuring it out when the plan goes sideways (because it always does).

We’re rapidly growing, nimble, and built to move fast—just like the industry we serve.

It's the atVenu way.
